Map of greater Washington DC area with 10 nautical mile restricted zone.

Following the terrorists attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 the FAA, at the urging of several government agencies, banned nearly all classes of aircraft from operating in American skies. Slowly these restrictions have been relaxed and one that remains is a 10 nautical mile circle around Washington's National Airport. Only commercial scheduled airlines, military, law enforcement, and medical flights are allowed inside that circle.

In some circumstances we can get a waiver into this restricted area up to 7 nautical miles of National Airport. Priority is given to clients from a government agency.
